Recently, a number of media players have added Amazon Alexa and Google Home basic voice control. In addition to Google Home’s control of Chromecast dongles and Alexa’s compatibility with Fire TV, Google Home can now control DISH Hoppers and Joeys, and most current Roku players. Amazon Alexa control has been added to the NVIDIA Shield. Having both an Amazon Echo and a Google Home, I tested the voice commands with each player to see how close we are to handsfree control.
