Dish previewed several updates and new devices in the world of home entertainment at CES (
Consumer Electronics Show) 2016 earlier this year. We even proclaimed that Dish won the show with Hopper 3 and its 4K capability and ‘Sports Bar Mode’ four-way multiview feature.
Today Dish officially released its long-awaited portable hard drive, the HopperGO.
Users of the company’s Hopper 2 and state-of-the-art Hopper 3 DVRs will now have offline access to their DVR-ed content with the HopperGO, a travel-friendly device featuring 64GBs of storage to support as much as 100 hours of recorded programming regardless of the user’s location and accessibility to Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
“HopperGo is the perfect summer travel companion for nearly anyone, whther your’e road tripping at the airport or lounging on a beach,” says Vivek Khemka, executive vice president and chief technology officer, Dish Network. “It manages the burden of storage, so forget about deleting apps or pictures to free up space on your phone or tablet for video.”
There’s more. When you’re on the road, the HopperGO serves as a little Wi-Fi hotspot for up to five devices. It creates its own private wireless cloud that supports simultaneous viewing on the go.
The device works with Apple iOS, Android and Kindle tablets. Its built-in rechargeable battery enables up to four hours of content streaming on a single charge.
The HopperGO is available now for $99.
